SHEQ
Akhona Mining Services is aligned to ISO standards and complies with industry regulatory procedures and protocols.
Akhona Mining Services’ Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality committee steers and leads strategic direction and oversight on SHEQ, and is chaired by trade union veteran, Chairman Frans Baleni.
Our SHEQ system is aligned to all three industry standards – ISO 45001 (Health and Safety Management); ISO 14001 (Environmental Management); and ISO 9001 (Quality Management).
We are in the process of applying for certification for all three standards in our own right.
Environment
At Akhona Mining Services we are keenly aware of the impact our operations and the projects we participate in may have on the environment. We complies with all industry and client policies, standards and guidelines and our environmental systems are aligned with ISO 14001:2015.
Quality
We implement quality management processes and procedures that are in line with industry standards and requirements. Our systems are ISO 9001:2015 aligned and we constantly seeks innovative ways to raise performance, set new standards and ensure that both the service, and the product we delivers to our clients, are of the highest quality standards.

Safety & health
Our commitment to safety above all is evident in our performance in this sphere, and our teams maintain a lost-time-injury free track record.
We are committed to the wellbeing of all stakeholders, including employer, employees and the communities surrounding our operations and clients. We comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (85 of 1993) and Mine Health and Safety Act No.29 of 1996, and implement regular safety programmes and campaigns to ensure that safety remains top of mind, across the business and all associated operations. Our health and safety systems are aligned with ISO 45001 standards.
